One of My Favorite Scriptures

In the 22nd chapter of the book of Alma in Book of Mormon, Aaron teaches the king, who is the father of Lamoni, about the great plan of salvation, and the king desires to receive the joy of His spirit. As the king prays to God, he shows his great desire to know God and receive salvation:

18 O God, Aaron hath told me that there is a God; and if there is a God, and if thou art God, wilt thou make thyself known unto me, and I will give away all my sins to know thee, and that I may be raised from the dead, and be saved at the last day. And now when the king had said these words, he was struck as if he were dead.

Ever since I was baptized, the king's words have always struck me deeply, filling me with the same sense of commitment. He is willing to give up anything and everything that The Lord wills in order to follow him. It is an act of great faith. I desire to do the same, and reading these few words always causes me to reassess my current path and actions, my goals and my desires.
